The first generation Saab 9-3 was introduced in 1998. The European carmaker took a lot of design cues from their aviation side of the business, especially with the interior. The automotive division of Saab was eventually sold to GM in 2000 and Saab remained in production for quite some time after that. The 9-3 stayed with the company until GM shut down Saab in 2011, making the 2012 models the last year you can find a Saab 9-3.

Saab 9-3 FAQs

A new battery for your Saab shouldn't have to break the bank. We've got batteries for your 9-3 that will fit any budget. From the Duracell Ultra Group 48 Flooded battery at around $200 all the way to the ultra-premium Group 48 X2Power Premium AGM battery at $350. Whatever budget you have, we have a battery for you.

In normal conditions with little maintenance your 9-3 battery should last between 3 and 5 years. However, this can be extended by regularly checking for and removing corrosion from the battery terminals with a terminal cleaner and a wire brush. Help keep your battery healthy by driving longer trips so the alternator has time to recharge the battery fully as you drive. If you ignore your battery and just let corrosion build up or don't let the battery charge properly you could be replacing it much earlier than expected.

In many Saab 9-3's you'll find either the BCI Group Size 48 or 96R battery being used. It's important to note that this can vary depending on the year of your 9-3 and it's always best to verify what you need before making a purchase by looking under the hood, in the owner's manual or using our fitment finder.
