What Do I Need to Know When Buying a New Car Battery?

Not sure what type of battery your Mitsubishi Lancer needs? No problem. Follow these steps:

  • Find the correct battery size for your model Lancer by looking in your owner's manual or by searching online.
  • Find the CCA rating   for your Lancer vehicle. You can find this information in your owner's manual or via online search.
  • It's okay to buy a battery with a higher CCA rating than your vehicle requires, but do not buy one with a lower CCA rating.
  • Determine if your Mitsubishi Lancer requires an AGM battery. If so, you must replace it with another AGM battery. Find this information by checking the owner's manual or your current battery's label.

What is the Difference Between AGM and Flooded Batteries?

Flooded Battery

  • The most basic type of auto battery.
  • Carries the lowest upfront cost.
  • Is not fully sealed. Because of this some flooded batteries require you to maintain the electrolyte inside by adding distilled or deionized water.

AGM Battery

  • Costs more upfront than a flooded battery, but lasts 2-3X longer. This makes an AGM battery a better long-term investment.
  • Puts out more power than a flooded battery. This makes AGM batteries much better at starting your engine in extreme hot and cold weather.
  • Completely sealed and requires no additional maintenance.
