When it comes time to replace the batteries   in your Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500, your first stop should be your nearest Batteries Plus. At Batteries Plus, you'll find replacement options for both your primary and auxiliary batteries  . Our selection of primary batteries includes flooded and AGM options from Duracell, Optima and our exclusive X2Power brand. You'll also find replacement auxiliary batteries from Power Sonic. Plus, we carry a variety of jump starters, booster cables, windshield wiper blades and other auto essentials in our Automotive Center.

Batteries Plus is also your one-stop destination for convenient auto services  . Visit any one of our 700+ locations for free battery testing for your Sprinter van. We also offer expert auto battery installation with the purchase of a new auto battery (valid at participating locations, on most vehicle makes and models). Or, protect your Benz Sprinter 3500 even further; opt for added protection against battery corrosion, upgrade to Premium Installation service.

My Sprinter 3500 van currently runs on an AGM battery. Can I replace it with a flooded battery?

First a little background: There are two types of primary starting batteries, flooded and AGM  . If your Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500 came to you with an AGM battery   installed, you must replace it with another AGM battery. Failure to do so will have a negative impact on your van's performance.

If your Sprinter 3500 originally had a flooded battery installed, you can replace it with another flooded battery, or you can upgrade to an AGM battery.

How can I recycle my old Sprinter 3500 battery?

At Batteries Plus, we stand behind our recycling program. When you have your Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500 battery replaced at any of our stores, we'll pass the old battery along to our recycling partners who will then repurpose the salvageable material for secondary uses and keep those dangerous materials out of landfills.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 FAQs

Mercedes Sprinter vans have two different batteries onboard, a primary starting battery and an auxiliary battery. The starting battery is responsible for starting your engine. The auxiliary battery has two functions. It helps to backup your starting battery and provides additional power for onboard technology like start-stop systems.

Our experts say that the battery in your Sprinter should last around 3-5 years. Factors like the climate you drive in and your driving habits play a part in how long your battery will last. For tips on how to maximize your battery life, read our blog entitled, "6 Things That Can Drain Your Car Battery  ."

The cost of a replacement battery will depend on the type of battery you choose. Flooded batteries are the most affordable, however, many Mercedes vans require an AGM battery. If your van came with an AGM installed originally, you need to replace it with another AGM option.
