Kia launched in the US in the mid 1990s with only one being offered in the Portland, Oregon area. A short time later, the Sportage became the second vehicle offered by Kia in the US as Kia expanded throughout most of the United States.

The Kia Sportage started off as a small, compact SUV built for the masses and quickly became a vehicle that went through many revisions to become the high-tech offering that it is today. While still a small SUV, the latest generation of the Sportage features plenty of legroom and cargo space while featuring some of the latest technology and safety features seen in the market.

Kia Sportage FAQs

The Kia Sportage has been known to have a few different batteries over the years. Commonly seen are the BCI Group 48, 124R and 35. It is important to note that using the correct battery size   is critical to ensure that your vehicle operates correctly. Check in your owner's manual, under the hood or use our fitment finder to see exactly what battery you need before making a purchase.

A replacement battery shouldn't be a burden to your wallet. At Batteries Plus we offer several options to fit any budget. From the Duracell Ultra Flooded battery at a low cost of around $180 for a basic replacement to the ultra premium X2Power that will provide your Sportage with relentless power at $350, there’s a battery for everyone.

Generally, a car battery should last between 3 - 5 years with little maintenance as long as you are not abusing the battery. If you are driving enough to properly charge the battery and routinely clean the terminals to remove any corrosion, the battery could last well over 5 years. If you are suspecting that your battery may be losing life, drive over to Batteries Plus and let us test your battery free of charge.
