Wondering where you can find a replacement battery for your Ford Thunderbird? Batteries Plus has both flooded and AGM batteries, perfect for your Ford Thunderbird. We carry only top-quality brands like Duracell and X2Power. If you need a set of replacement headlight bulbs, windshield wiper blades or a battery charger, you'll find all that and more in our Auto Center.

You can also have your current battery tested for free at your nearest location. If you purchase a new battery from us, we'll be happy to install it (valid at participating locations, on most vehicle makes and models).

How Can You Be Sure to Purchase the Correct Size Battery?

In order to find the correct battery for your Ford Thunderbird you'll need to know the group size. Group sizes are typically two-digit numbers, which may also be followed by a letter.

You can find the correct group size battery for your car by:

  • Looking it up in your owner's manual
  • Checking the label of your current battery
  • Using an online resource to find the correct battery size

What is the Recommended CCA for My Car?

Your vehicle requires a certain amount of amperage in order to start your engine, especially in cold weather. Cold Cranking Amps tell you how well a battery will perform in 0℉ weather. The higher the CCA rating, the better it will respond in cold weather. Like with battery size, auto manufacturers provide a recommended CCA rating for every vehicle they produce. The minimum CCA rating can be exceeded, but don't install a battery with a rating below the minimum number of CCAs.

You can find the CCA rating by:

  • Looking it up in your owner's manual
  • Checking the label of your current battery
  • Using an online resource to find the CCA rating

Which is Better AGM or Flooded Battery?

  • There are 2 types of auto batteries: flooded & AGM.
  • A flooded battery is the most affordable type, but may require you to periodically add distilled water to the electrolyte inside it.
  • An AGM battery costs more upfront, but is designed to last 2-3X longer than a flooded option. This can end up saving you money in the long run.
  • AGM batteries are also more powerful than flooded batteries, which makes it easier to start your engine in extreme conditions.
  • Check to see what type of battery your vehicle requires. If your vehicle requires an AGM, you must replace it with another AGM battery.

Ford Thunderbird FAQs

You can find the correct group battery size for a Ford Thunderbird by checking your current battery, consulting your owner's manual or by looking it up online.

The average lifespan of an auto battery is 3-5 years. If you want to get the most out of your battery, be sure to drive your Thunderbird often and connect the battery to a charger any time you won't be driving your vehicle for longer than a month.

The cost of a replacement battery depends on the type of battery you select. Flooded batteries cost the least, but have shorter lifespans. AGM batteries cost more, but tend to last 2-3X longer, making it possible to save money over time.
