As a staple in the Ford lineup for over 30 years, the Taurus was a large sedan with something for everyone. In 2019 the Taurus was discontinued but since its launch in 1986, the Taurus was used for anything from the family car and the powerful SHO models to the high-performance police cruiser. After many redesigns and upgrades, the final version of the Taurus was roomy, efficient, handled like a small car and had the technology features people wanted. The Taurus design was so great in the end that it became a model for many modern cars.

Ford Taurus FAQs

Most Ford Taurus years and trim levels will have either a BCI Group Size 59 or 65 installed. Now, there is a chance that this is not the case for your specific model of Taurus. It is important to check your owner's manual or get your hands dirty and look under the hood to verify what's there so you don't buy the wrong battery. Save time by using our fitment finder to find out this information without having to lift a finger.

Depending on the brand and design of the battery you purchase, a new battery for your Taurus will run you somewhere between $180 for a Duracell Ultra flooded battery all the way up to $350 for a premium X2Power AGM battery. Not sure which one is right for you? Take a look at our car and truck battery buying guide to learn more.

Generally speaking, a car battery will typically last between 3 and 5 years. When the battery is properly maintained by being charged properly, cleaning the terminals regularly and removing and preventing corrosion it could last even longer. If you don't take care of your battery and just install it and forget it, it could need replacing much sooner.
