- There are 2 types of auto batteries: flooded & AGM.
- The label of your current battery should indicate whether it is flooded or AGM.
- You can also check your owner's manual for information on your Rio model's battery requirements.
- If you can't find what you're looking for on the battery label or in the owner's manual, the battery finder on our website will provide you with examples of the type of battery you need.
- Some vehicles require an AGM battery in order to run start/stop systems and other onboard technology. If your Rio came with an AGM, you must replace it with another AGM battery.
What are the Differences Between Flooded and AGM Auto Batteries?
- Flooded batteries cost less than AGM batteries upfront.
- Since flooded batteries are not fully sealed, some of them require you to maintain them by topping off the electrolyte inside with distilled or deionized water.
