Keeping your GPS Battery Healthy
Most GPS batteries can last for a few hours on battery life, but continued usage and improper care can significantly decrease how long the battery can last between charges. Here are a few tips to keep your GPS battery running for as long as possible:
- Turn It Off - When you’re not using it, turn your GPS off. Not only will this save power, but it could also prevent a dead car battery if you leave your GPS on a car charger.
- Don’t Store the Device in Your Car - While many people leave their GPS devices in their vehicles, this can expose them to extreme temperatures that can impact the life of the battery. If you must leave it in the car, at least keep it out of direct sunlight, which can overheat the battery on hot days.
- Keep a Spare Charger Nearby - You should always have a compatible car charger in your glovebox so that you can charge your GPS in an emergency. Many GPS devices come with their own car chargers, or you can check out our selection of GPS chargers to see if we have one compatible with your device.
