How Do I Know What Size Battery to Get for My Car?

  • When replacing your battery, you must find a battery that matches the group size   of your old battery.
  • You can find the correct BCI Group battery size listed in your owner's manual.
  • If you don't have the owner's manual, you can find the correct battery size by looking it up online.
  • Batteries Plus will supply you with a list of compatible replacement batteries when you shop online, or at your nearest store.

What is the Recommended CCA for My Car?

  • CCAs (short for Cold Cranking Amps) tell you how well an auto battery will perform when the temperature drops to 0℉.
  • The recommended CCA rating for a Veloster can be found in your owner's manual.
  • You can buy a battery with a higher number of CCAs than your manual recommends, but do not buy one with a lower CCA rating. Doing so will make it hard to start your engine in cold weather.

Are AGM Batteries Better Than Flooded Batteries?

  • Flooded batteries are the most basic type of auto battery and are also the most affordable.
  • AGM batteries cost more, but provide more power than flooded batteries, enabling you to start your engine more easily in extremely hot and cold climates.
  • AGM batteries are also designed to last 2-3X longer than a flooded battery, which can save you money in the long run.

Hyundai Veloster FAQs

A Hyundai Veloster requires a 12-volt auto battery just like other cars and trucks. Check to see if your vehicle requires an AGM battery. If so, you must replace it with another AGM option. If not, you can choose whether you want a flooded or AGM replacement battery.

You can expect the battery in your Hyundai Veloster to last between 3 and 5 years. To learn more about how climate and driving habits impact battery life, read our blog entitled "6 Things That Can Drain Your Car Battery  ."

The cost of a replacement battery will depend on the type of battery you select. Flooded batteries cost less upfront, but don't last as long as an AGM will. AGM batteries cost more upfront, but last longer, which should save you money in the long run.
