With summer winding down, hunting season will be here before you know it. As you start gathering your gear, be sure to visit your nearest Batteries Plus Bulbs for the batteries, flashlights and other little extras you need to help make your trip a success. Having trouble remembering everything you need? No problem. Keep track of the essentials with our checklist of must have equipment for hunting.

Flashlights and Headlamps

Flashlights are essential equipment for climbing in and out of stands at the beginning or end of your day, or for tracking wounded animals in the dark. This UV flashlight from LuxPro is perfect for hunting. The UV light makes it easier to spot blood, which can be very useful when tracking prey.

The NEBO Redline V is another great choice. This tactical flashlight features five different light modes, an adjustable zoom and a light output of up to 500 lumens. It is also completely waterproof (IPX7) and impact-resistant, making it great for outdoor use.

When you're on the hunting trail, hands-free is definitely the way to go. The NEBO Mycro Rechargeable Headlamp and Cap Light is the perfect way to light your way while freeing up your hands. It features six separate light modes and lasts up to 10 hours (depending on the light mode) before it needs to be recharged.

If you're looking for something lighter, the Streamlight Bandit Headlamp is perfect for your needs. This ultra-lightweight light can be used as either a head lamp or a visor clip light. It features three light modes and includes a handy clip adaptor that allows it to easily attach to the visor of a ball cap or pocket.

Portable Charging Power

When you're outdoors, it's important to keep your phone charged up to provide directions and keep you connected in case of emergencies. The cellhelmet 10,000 mAh Portable Power Bank is the perfect way to keep your phone or tablet powered up when you're far from a source of electricity. This convenient power bank is lightweight, highly portable and allows you to charge multiple devices wherever you are.

We even have solar power options from Goal Zero, perfect for powering devices when you're out on the trail. These innovative products allow you to capture solar energy using a 50 watt or 100 watt solar panel, then store that energy in a power bank or portable power station for use later. It's a great way to keep your devices running when you're miles away from an electrical outlet.

Backup Batteries

Batteries might not be the first thing you think of when planning a hunting trip, but it turns out they're used to power a lot of hunting gear. Be sure to pack plenty of alkaline batteries like AAs and AAAs for flashlights, headlamps, blood tracking lights, as well as portable radios. If you use a trail camera, you'll want to have extra AA or D batteries on hand. It's also wise to keep a supply of extra coin cell batteries close by for your illuminated scope, since it's very easy to leave these applications on by mistake and drain the available battery. Most scopes take 2032 size button cells. Do you use a GPS device to locate hunting stands or track your dog? Be sure to stock up on backup GPS batteries too, as well as batteries for your dog's hunting collar.

Let's talk transportation. ATVs and UTVs are a convenient way to reach remote hunting spots and are great for hauling gear and transporting deer and other animals. Bring in your current battery and we'll test it for free to make sure it's performing properly. If you do need a replacement, we have high-quality ATV batteries and UTV batteries on hand. Plus, we can help you find the right charger for your specific brand of ATV.

The same goes for the batteries in your boat too. If you're a duck or waterfowl hunter, have us test your marine battery to make sure it's strong enough for another hunting season. If not, we have plenty of boat batteries available to fit your needs, as well as battery boxes and chargers to help keep it going strong.

Little Extras

Speaking of dogs, if your pet is also your hunting partner, help keep track of him in the dark with the NiteDog Rechargeable LED collar. The RadDog Collapsible Bowl is also a great accessory to have on hand for feeding your dog on the go. It holds up to 16 ounces of food or water, and can be folded into a small pocket-sized package and clipped to a backpack or belt loop using the plastic S-Biner MicroLock.

A Swiss army knife is another useful accessory to have on hand for unforeseen situations. The Super Tinker Victorinox Swiss Army Knife provides you with 14 separate tools, including a can opener, several screwdrivers, a bottle opener, a wire stripper, tweezers and more.

As you can see, Batteries Plus Bulbs has plenty of essentials to help make your next hunting trip a success. Still have questions? No problem. The associates at your local Batteries Plus Bulbs location can help you find the best flashlight, power bank or batteries for your individual needs.
