Which is Better AGM or Flooded Battery?

There are two types of replacement batteries for your Nissan Pathfinder, flooded and AGM. Flooded batteries are the most basic type of auto battery. Their biggest advantage is their low upfront cost. One thing about flooded batteries is that they are not completely sealed. Because of this, some flooded auto batteries require you to monitor and replace the liquid inside their electrolyte by topping them off with distilled water.

AGM batteries are completely sealed and require no additional maintenance. They are also designed to have longer lifespans and perform better in extreme hot and cold conditions. Plus, they recharge faster than a flooded battery. Their one disadvantage is that AGM batteries cost more upfront than a flooded battery. Since they last longer though, an AGM battery will often save you money in the long run.

How Do I Know What Group Size Battery I Need?

Every vehicle battery is assigned a code that refers to its physical dimensions, terminal position and type requirement for the vehicle. You can find the correct group battery size   in your Nissan Pathfinder owner's manual, or by looking it up online.

Is CCA Important in a Car Battery?

Cold weather makes it more difficult for a battery to start your vehicle's engine. Cold cranking amps (CCAs) measure how well a vehicle battery will perform in a 0℉ environment. Just like with battery group size, your owner's manual will provide you with the minimum CCA requirements for your Pathfinder. It's very important that you buy a battery that fulfills this minimum CCA rating. You can buy a battery with a higher CCA rating if you live in a cold climate, as this will make it easier for the battery to start your engine.

What is the Best Battery for a Nissan Pathfinder?

X2Power is Batteries Plus' exclusive battery brand. These Thin Plate Pure Lead AGM batteries are specially engineered to turn over your engine in any climate or condition. In addition, X2Power batteries are designed to last 3X longer than a flooded battery. They also recharge faster and provide a higher power capacity for your onboard technology. If you're looking for the best possible battery for your Nissan Pathfinder, pick up an X2Power battery.

Nissan Pathfinder FAQs

On average, the battery in your Pathfinder should last 3-5 years. Read our blog entitled "6 Things That Can Drain Your Car Battery  " for tips on how to get the most life out of your battery.

The price of a new Pathfinder battery will depend on the type of battery you choose. Flooded batteries cost less upfront, but don't last as long. AGM batteries are more expensive up front, but can end up saving you money in the long run due to their longer lifespans.

When shopping for a new battery, be sure to check whether your Pathfinder originally came with an AGM battery installed. If so, you must replace it with another AGM battery. Otherwise, your vehicle's performance will be impacted. If your Pathfinder originally came with a flooded battery installed, you can choose whether you want to replace it with another flooded battery, or upgrade to an AGM option.
