What Information Do I Need to Buy a New Battery for My Accent?

When shopping for a new battery, you'll want to look up the correct battery size and CCA rating for your vehicle. The battery size   of your Hyundai Accent can be found in your owner's manual or online.

You'll also want to check your owner's manual for your vehicle's CCA rating. The higher the number of Cold Cranking Amps that a battery has, the better it will perform in subzero temperatures. When you select a battery, it's okay to buy a battery with more CCAs than your vehicle requires, but don't buy one with a lower CCA rating.

What is the Difference Between Flooded and AGM Auto Batteries?

There are two different kinds of auto batteries: flooded and AGM. Flooded batteries are the most basic type of auto batteries. Since flooded batteries are not fully sealed, a flooded battery may require you to maintain it by adding distilled water to the electrolyte inside.

AGM batteries   are completely sealed and require no additional maintenance. An AGM battery will cost you more upfront than a flooded battery will. Since AGM batteries have longer lifespans, chances are you'll save money in the long run with an AGM battery. AGM batteries also have the following performance advantages:

  • Higher voltage output - provides more electrical energy for more reliable starting and more power for onboard technology
  • Longer lifespan - designed to last 2-3X longer than a flooded battery
  • Faster recharge rate - recharges faster than a flooded battery
  • Slower discharge rate - holds onto its charge longer in storage than a flooded battery
  • Weather resistance - AGM batteries perform much better than flooded batteries in extreme hot and cold weather.

Hyundai Accent FAQs

The cost of a new Accent battery will depend on the kind of battery you select. Flooded batteries cost less upfront, but AGM batteries are designed to last longer, which often saves you money in the long run.

The battery in your Hyundai Accent should last between 3 and 5 years. There are several factors that determine your battery's life, including the type of battery you have, your driving habits and the climate in which you drive your vehicle. If you're looking for tips on how to maximize your battery life, read our blog entitled "How Far Do I Need to Drive to Charge My Car Battery?  "

Hyundai vehicles run on 12-volt auto batteries, the same as other cars and trucks. Check whether your Hyundai vehicle originally came with an AGM battery installed. If so, you must replace it with another AGM battery. Using a flooded battery, in this case, will have a negative impact on your vehicle's performance.
