What Kind of Batteries Do Watches Use?

While there are some exceptions, most watches use lithium coin cell batteries or silver oxide cell batteries. At Batteries Plus, you'll find a selection of both types to ensure you get the right battery for your watch.

You can opt to change your watch battery yourself, but the work can be delicate. If you'd rather leave it to the pros, our in-store battery replacement services will take away the guesswork, no appointment needed. We have the tools and know-how to get the job done right, and with care.

Ingestion Safety Warning

Due to their small size, silver oxide buttons and lithium coin cell batteries are incredibly easy to swallow, especially for children. While these batteries are safe for normal use, they can be hazardous when ingested. To avoid accidental ingestion, do not leave your batteries within reach of children. For more information, read our ingestion safety tips.

A word about smartwatches. Most smartwatches don't use small or coin-cell batteries. Instead, many smartwatches have integrated lithium coin or slider oxide batteries and require additional tools. For this reason, Batteries Plus doesn't replace smartwatch batteries.
