We Recycle

Recycling Service

Improper disposal of batteries can lead to contamination of soil and ground water. Recycling transforms the harmful elements from landfills into new products ranging from wheel weights to chrome vehicle bumpers.

Batteries Plus participates in EPA approved methods for recycling, which brings our customers in full compliance with all federal, state, municipal, EPA, and DOT regulations governing disposal of lead acid and NiCd batteries.

Why We Recycle

Batteries Plus is an industry leader in the recycling of lead acid and NiCd batteries. Over 75% of the batteries we sell are recycled. We fully support industry associations striving to improve the recycling process.

Disposal (especially by businesses) is strictly regulated by federal, state, and municipal governments. The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) deems lead acid and NiCd batteries hazardous waste unless they are properly transported and recycled by EPA licensed facilities.

Batteries Plus is committed to making sure your lead recycling needs are met in an environmentally safe manner today in order to preserve nature for generations to come.

Where We Recycle

Batteries Plus is contracted with facilities that undergo regular review and inspection by EPA and state environmental agencies. In addition, many large industrial waste generators and environmental contractors conduct on-site environmental audits and utilize the same facilities as Batteries Plus. By recycling with Batteries Plus, you can be assured that your spent lead acid and NiCd batteries are being recycled in an environmentally safe manner in fully permitted and inspected facilities.

What We Recycle

Batteries Plus offers complete recycling solutions for spent lead acid and NiCd (non-liquid) battery types. Additional services are available upon request for recycling of other battery chemistries, including NiMH (non-liquid) and Li Ion.

Next Steps

Go through your home and office and find all those rechargeable batteries and cell phones that you have lying around that are no longer being used.

Check the Batteries Plus store locator to find a participating store where you can drop your off your old cell phones and rechargeable batteries.

After you drop off your cell phones and rechargeable batteries, the store will ship them to a recycling and refurbishing facility.

The rechargeable batteries that power the cell phones are sent to a state-of-the-art facility where they are recycled to reclaim reusable materials that are used in stainless steel production (nickel and iron) and to make new batteries (cadmium).

The cell phones are either refurbished for reuse or recycled in an environmentally-sound manner.
