
Our Battery Family Just Got Larger Announcing an alliance of two key players in the $22 billion US battery industry.
We are excited to announce our strategic partnership with Spectrum Brands, the parent company of Rayovac. The partnership is a multi-year licensing program for the United States and Canada that will provide Batteries Plus with more selling power behind our battery products for both consumer and commercial customers, while expanding and diversifying Rayovac’s battery product line.
Batteries Plus stores around the country will offer customers Rayovac-branded battery products. The Rayovac products will add to Batteries Plus’ wide selection of control brands, such as Nuon, Werker, Xtreme, as well as other national brands including Optima, Odyssey and Empire. The newly branded Rayovac products will be offered on batteries spanning 16 different product categories that represent thousands of unique battery applications, including batteries to power common electronic devices such as laptop computers, cellular phones, camcorders, cordless tools, cordless phones, PDAs, MP3 players, hand held scanners and two-way radios, among others.
Rayovac is undisputedly recognized as one of 3 mega-brands in the battery industry with 97% aided awareness. Consumers associate Rayovac with performance and value, which is a direct benefit to Batteries Plus. Rayovac is ranked #1 among families with three or more children and #1 among 25-44 year olds, beating both Energizer and Duracell.
Rayovac has significantly invested in advertising their brand, recently signing Brett Favre as their spokesperson. In a 2006 Harris Poll which ranked the top 5 Most Popular Athletes, Brett Favre was the third most recognizable behind Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. Batteries Plus will benefit from this relationship by utilizing Brett Favre’s likeness in promotion of our licensed Rayovac products.
As Batteries Plus continues to command an increasing share of the retail and commercial battery market, partnering with a proven, established brand such as Rayovac will be key to the future success of both our company owned and franchise stores in our rapidly growing system.
