AllBusiness Allstars

HARTLAND, WI -- Batteries Plus, the nation’s franchise leader in the $24 billion dollar battery segment, ranked No. 1 in the battery category and #59 overall in a comprehensive listing of the nation’s top 300 franchise companies.

Dun & Bradstreet’s AllBusiness AllStars rankings listed the top 300 best franchises in the country. The rankings assessed the strengths of franchising companies based upon criteria such as Web visibility and the latest financial strength scores from Dun & Bradstreet. The company’s team of editors researched, compiled, and analyzed more than 700 franchise systems to compile the AllBusiness AllStar Franchises list, which draws upon the in-depth financial analysis of its parent company, D&B (Dun and Bradstreet).

“This ranking further validates our economic strength and stability as a franchise system,” said Russ Reynolds, CEO of Batteries Plus.  “Batteries Plus does well in any economy because the demand drivers for our business are healthy. Being analyzed and receiving top billing in a ranking as prestigious as D&B’s AllBusiness AllStars speaks volumes to our accomplishments.”

Reynolds cited the increased need for portable devices such as mp3 players, cell phones, digital cameras, laptops and camcorders, as well as strong support for franchisees and national brand recognition as factors contributing to the franchise system’s 18 percent increase in same-store sales in 2008.

Batteries Plus has a licensing agreement with Spectrum Brands, the parent company of Rayovac, a $2.5 billion global consumer products company and one of the largest battery, shaving and grooming, and lighting companies in the world. Through the alliance, Rayovac has licensed more than 17 different battery product categories to Batteries Plus, including laptop computers, cellular phones, digital cameras, camcorders, cordless tools, cordless phones, PDAs, MP3 players, cars, trucks, and scanners, among others.

“Technology is on a speed course of evolution and batteries are flying right along for support,” added Reynolds. “As we enter our third decade in business, we’re more motivated than ever to attract franchise partners who want to join our AllStar team for the ride.”
