BatteriesPlus: "Your Battery Store with More!"
October 10, 2008
By ANN VAN DYKE

If you're having trouble finding that unique or hard to find battery for ANY type of equipment, look no further! Batteries Plus is THE "battery super-store!" Opened in May, 2008, Batteries Plus is located at 1780 N. Bechtle Ave. in Springfield.

When one walks in the store, every type of battery imaginable surrounds you, ranging from watch batteries to airplane batteries!

Batteries Plus is the nation's largest retail chain of this kind offering a large and quantitative selection of batteries, battery related products, expertise, and technical support that meet the growing battery demands for both consumers and commercial customers.

In addition to thousands of batteries, Batteries Plus also boasts a Tech Center that is equipped to design, assemble, rebuild, and test custom battery packs. Each store stocks up to 12,000 different types of batteries, says Russ Reynolds, CEO of the $200 million-revenue company. The business' accounts include Fortune 500 companies, manufacturers, other retail stores, local municipalities, fire and police departments, the military, and school districts.

The store's product line includes batteries for both the more common as well as hard to find items that are traditionally not available at other retail stores. "We are America's battery experts," says John Alvarez, owner of the N. Bechtle Ave. store. "Sometimes people will have searched for hours or even days for a certain battery. Then, they come in here, and within a few minutes they usually have exactly what they need. We are a real time saver for people and it's a fun business to be in."

When asked what sets Batteries Plus apart from other similar stores, John Alvarez answered quickly: "It's most definitely our service. We provide service, and we have the knowledge, and we do things quickly so our busy customers don't have to be held up."

One service that customers may be interested in is having a new car battery installed at the store while they wait. Technicians will remove the car battery, install a new one, and then recycle the old one for the customer. "Our aim is to make this a painless process for our customers."

Batteries Plus is also an advocate for their customers and the whole community. The store is demonstrating this by giving away 9-volt batteries and educating consumers about smoke alarm safety as a part of National Fire Prevention Week, being held this year on October 5-11.
