For almost 10 years, Batteries Plus has powered many electronics and more in the greater Ankeny area. Owner Todd Olsen talks about the affect his specialty business has had on business owners and residents alike since it opened in 1998.

Q. What does your business specialize in?

A. Batteries for commercial and retail applications, battery testing and rebuilding.

Q. Why is this service needed?

A. We offer a knowledge of batteries that is not available at a typical store, along with offering specialty and regular batteries for most anything. We can also test and repair batteries, such as your cordless tools, with our specialized equipment. We are living in a rechargeable world, so when you need rechargeables, we become your one-stop shop.

Q. Where have you been drawing customers from?

A. My customers come from a very large area - not just Ankeny. Customers say they are very happy to have a business like ours in the area.

Q. How did you find yourself in this line of work?

A. I have many years in the automotive business; my other business was in towing.
